Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Luis Guzman has traveled extensively in pursuit of the highest-quality education in Dental Prosthetics, Periodontics, and Implant Surgery. His commitment to excellence allows him to provide comprehensive, top-tier care to his patients.
Dr. Guzman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Cell Sciences from the University of Florida in 2005. He then obtained his Doctor of Dental Science degree from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica in 2010, which ignited his passion for advanced dental specialties.
Pursuing dual specializations, he completed a Prosthodontics (Dental Prosthetics) residency from 2011 to 2014, followed by a Periodontics and Implant Surgery residency from 2014 to 2017 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Furthering his academic and clinical expertise, Dr. Guzman earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Dentistry from UAB Graduate School (2016-2017), where his research focused on Cone Beam Computed Tomography, Bone Density, and Implant Stability within the Department of Periodontology. To expand his professional scope, he obtained a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from UAB (2017-2019), enabling him to practice dentistry in the states of Alabama and Georgia.
Dr. Guzman has personally planned the implant placement for all his cases since 2011 and continues to handle all aspects of implant planning in his private practice. From surgical guides to the design and manufacturing of dental prosthetics, he ensures precision and efficiency at every stage. For All-on-4 and full-mouth rehabilitation cases, Dr. Guzman’s ability to perform both the surgery under I.V. sedation and the full prosthetic rehabilitation streamlines the treatment process. This approach minimizes treatment time and costs while eliminating miscommunication between multiple practitioners, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Guzman is an adjunct clinical faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Graduate Periodontology Program, where he has been teaching since 2019.

Now based in Alabama, Dr. Guzman lives with his wife, Dr. Britany Matin, and their children. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has a basic proficiency in Portuguese. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys photography, computer design, animation, and 3D printing with his kids, as well as coaching soccer in his spare time.
